HUNDREDS of drivers have been caught ignoring motorway lane closures.
Cameras captured 582 incidents of drivers ignoring Red X signs on motorways in the West Mercia area in 2024.
In 2025, West Mercia Police sent out 814 notices for the same offence.

The Red X signs indicate when a lane is closed and it is illegal to ignore them.
A Freedom of Information response, published on the force’s website, revealed the figures but did not specify the locations of incidents.
