Two men jailed after beating man with baseball bat

TWO men have been jailed after beating a man with a baseball bat.

Waqas Ali, aged 31, and Mehtab Ali, 29, have now been sentenced after the attack on Wyld’s Lane earlier this year.

Shocking footage showed the pair repeatedly swinging the bat down on a man as he struggled on the ground.

The two men had been due to stand trial last month, each charged with single counts of grievous bodily harm with intent but on the first day, they both entered guilty pleas for the lesser charge of grievous bodily harm without intent, which was accepted.

The trial was abandoned and they appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Friday, September 11 for sentence.

Both men, of Bloomsbury Street, Birmingham, were jailed for 35 months each.

They will also each have to pay a victim surcharge of £228.

An additional count of possessing an offensive weapon was left to lie on file.
