E-scooter seized after rider goes through red light

AN e-scooter was seized in Worcester after the rider was caught going through a red light.

Police stopped the rider on Friday, October 2 after the e-scooter was spotted on a public road.

The vehicle was seized and the rider was reported for contravening a red traffic light, as well as riding without insurance and riding without a licence.

“We know many members of our community have concerns regarding the use of e-scooters, particularly when they are being ridden illegally or dangerously,” a spokesperson for West Mercia Police said.

“We will continue to take action where offences are identified to help keep our roads and public spaces safe for everyone.

“Please remember that privately owned e-scooters cannot be legally used on public roads, pavements, or cycle paths in West Mercia.”
