Summer fair returns to church square with music, food and fun

St George’s CE Church in Worcester will hold its annual summer fair this weekend.

The event, on Saturday, July 11, will run from from 12pm to 4pm in St George’s Square, Barbourne, with an afternoon of live music, food and entertainment for all ages.

Revd Sarah Carwardine, vicar of St George’s Church, said: “The summer fair is one of the highlights of the year for our church and the wider Barbourne community.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for people to come together, enjoy fantastic live music, delicious food and a traditional summer afternoon in the Square.

“We’re delighted to welcome Avonbank Brass Band and The Spaceball Buccaneer this year, and we look forward to seeing friends, neighbours and visitors enjoying everything the Fair has to offer while supporting the work of St George’s Church.”

Avonbank Brass Band will headline the event, performing a varied programme throughout the afternoon.

Other entertainment will include a performance by Robbie Dorman, known as The Spaceball Buccaneer, who will play a blend of original songs and classics by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and David Bowie.

Traditional stalls will feature a grand raffle, tombola, books, homemade cakes and crafts.

Food and drink options will include pulled pork rolls, strawberries and cream, Pimm’s, Barbourne cider, and tea and coffee.

Families can enjoy the kid’s zone, offering games and activities for children, though organisers have confirmed there will be no roundabout this year.

Ice cream will be served by Bears Great Escapes.

The event will raise funds for St George’s CE Church and its community work.

Entry to the fair is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
