Specialist dementia support is coming to the high street.
Admiral Nurse clinics will be held at the Nationwide branch in Worcester, offering confidential, in-person support to anyone affected by dementia.
The free clinics will run on November 17, 18, and 19, and will be delivered by Dementia UK Admiral Nurses, who provide expert, practical and emotional advice to families and individuals.
Lesley Potter, Admiral Nurse at Dementia UK, said: “We’re looking forward to returning to West Midlands to offer support and advice to families affected by dementia.
“Since launching our partnership with Nationwide Building Society, we have seen the difference it can make to bring specialist dementia support into local communities.
“These clinics give people the chance to speak to an Admiral Nurse about any aspect of dementia, from understanding a diagnosis to finding practical support in a safe and accessible place, helping to ensure no one faces dementia alone.”
The clinics will take place at Nationwide’s Worcester branch at 61 High Street and are open to anyone impacted by dementia, regardless of whether they are a Nationwide customer.
Appointments can be booked through the Dementia UK website.
The service forms part of Nationwide’s social impact strategy, Fairer Futures, which aims to address key social challenges across the UK through targeted partnerships.
Nationwide is funding 30 Admiral Nurses and is hosting clinics in over 230 Nationwide branches across the country. Twelve Virgin Money branches across the North of England and Scotland will also trial clinics from May, increasing the number of branches offering dementia support to 250 across the UK.
Charlotte Kensett, director of customer experience and social impact at Nationwide, said: “Dementia impacts millions of families and that’s why we’re incredibly proud to have brought life-changing support into 250 of our branches and helped more than 55,000 people through our partnership with Dementia UK.
“As a mutual we believe we have a role to play in strengthening the communities we serve and supporting those most in need.
“Through our social impact strategy, Nationwide Fairer Futures, we’re committed to changing hundreds of thousands of lives for the better.”
