Worcester knitting group celebrates 20 years and raises £31.96 for charity

A craft group has celebrated 20 years of knitting, crochet, and friendship.

United in Knitting, based in Worcester, marked its milestone anniversary on October 17, with a gathering at Little Al’s at The Commandery.

The event brought together long-standing members and a dressmaker who travelled from Liverpool.

Laura Hamilton, a long-time member of the group, said: “It was lovely catching up with everyone and hearing from past members who surprised us on the day by attending or sending messages.

“My mum, who joined us during our lockdown Zoom meetings, was able to do a quick video call from Northern Ireland to join the celebration.

“Thanks to Little Al’s Cafe for their continuing support of the group and for the lovely cake.”

The group raised £31.96 at the event for Behind the Sm;le, a mental health charity.

Another member, Jo, who both knits and crochets, said: “Here’s to the next 20 years!”

United in Knitting has met in cafes across Worcester over the past two decades and currently gathers every Saturday from 10am to 12 noon at The Commandery in Sidbury.
