A chippy in Bewdley with over 666,000 followers on TikTok has gone viral with its ‘giant chip butty’ video.
Merchants Fish & Chips, which is based on Load Street in Bewdley, has gone viral with the ‘giant chip butty’ video, which, at the time of writing, has been viewed nearly 550,000 times and has over 20,000 likes.
The video features Destiny Harolld, aka chippydiva, who has worked at Merchants since she was 16, and Mitch Key, aka MitchsPOV, and showcases the creation of the ‘giant chip butty’ that includes mushy peas, battered sausage bites, chicken curry, and ‘chippy chips’.
The video is the latest viral hit for the Bewdley chippy, which boasts over 25 million likes on TikTok, and videos that have been viewed over 50 million times.
Other viral videos from Merchants include swapping fuel for fish and chips, which has been viewed 6.6 million times and has 416,000 likes, and ordering haddock and chips, which has been viewed over 35 million times and has 2.3 million likes.
The family-run chippy has been in the town for over 40 years, with owner Antony Akathiotis having taken over the reins from his dad when he was 21.
