A bake sale has raised £305 to support children living with disabilities.
The fundraiser was organised by eight-year-old Nayelli Rodriguez and her friends Ada, Dilys, Luuk, and Ella.
The children raised the money to fund swimming lessons for disabled children in Mexico through Therapies Unite, a charity founded by Worcester resident Laura Brown de Rodriguez.
Ms Brown de Rodriguez said: “I couldn’t be prouder of Nayelli and her friends.
“They came up with this idea themselves because they wanted to make a difference during their summer holidays.
“To see children choosing to spend their free time helping other children is incredibly inspiring.
“Every pound raised will help children with disabilities access swimming lessons, which can have a huge impact on their confidence, independence and wellbeing.
“We are so grateful to everyone who supported the bake sale, donated and cheered the children on.”
The sale was held on Sebright Avenue, where the children baked cakes, greeted customers, and collected donations throughout the day.
They originally hoped to raise £100 but ended up more than tripling their goal.
Therapies Unite supports children with disabilities in Mexico by providing therapies, specialist equipment, and opportunities.
The funds will go towards swimming lessons, giving children the chance to build confidence, improve their physical development and enjoy the many benefits that swimming can bring.
Nayelli said: “We wanted to help children who don’t get the same chances as us.
“Thank you to everyone who came to buy cakes and donated.
“We were really excited to raise so much money.”
