West Midlands Safari Park has announced the death of a “much-loved” animal.
Jack, a California sea lion, died after a short illness and was described as a “fantastic ambassador for his species.”
West Midlands Safari Park said: “Jack’s confident personality and enthusiasm made him a fantastic ambassador for his species, and he played an important role in helping people connect with wildlife over the years.
“Jack will be greatly missed by his keepers and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. We would like to thank everyone who has supported and followed Jack throughout his life at the Park.”
Born on June 2, 2008, Jack arrived at the park as a young sea lion and quickly became a favourite with guests and staff alike.
He played a key role in educating visitors about the intelligence of sea lions and the importance of marine conservation.
