Hospital use of County Hall would be ‘good common sense’

WHAT an excellent suggestion by Councillor Alan Amos to use County Hall (in Worcester) as part of the hospital.

In 2019 the Worcestershire Royal Hospital was rated as ‘inadequate’ by the Care Quality Commission, mostly because it was too small.

Since then Worcester has become much larger.

At that time it was suggested by myself and others that the hospital should expand into County Hall.

The building offers several advantages — substantial parking and easy access for ambulances and public transport plus only a short walking distance from the main hospital.

Also the County Hall pavilions would easily convert to hospital wards which could accommodate the bed-blockers currently in the hospital, thereby releasing hospital beds for new patients.

It’s good to see such a good common-sense suggestion coming from the councillor and I sincerely hope that it goes ahead.
