Temperatures to reach 30 degrees in Worcester as heat health alert issued

THE COUNCIL has advised residents to take precautions and keep safe ahead of the warm bank holiday weekend.

An Amber Heat Health Alert has been issued for Worcestershire from 2pm today (May 22) until 5pm on May 27.

A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said: “People in Worcestershire are being encouraged to stay safe during the current period of warmer weather this week.

“An Amber Heat Health Alert has been issued by UKHSA, in force for Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands region from 2pm today until 5pm on Wednesday (27 May).

“At this time of year, most of us look forward to some warm sunny weather and the chance to spend some time outdoors, but when it’s too hot for too long, some people struggle to cope in the heat. We can all take precautions that allow us to enjoy the hot weather safely and help people who might be more vulnerable as the temperatures rise.

“During periods of warmer weather, it is important to keep in touch with your neighbours or relatives who may need some extra support; ask whether they are feeling unwell, whether they need any practical help or if they need any food or medication.”
