Former landlords of beloved village pub to take over canalside pub near Droitwich

THE former landlords of a beloved village pub are set to take on a new challenge on the outskirts of Droitwich.

Lee and Libby Ball have announced they are taking over the Eagle & Sun, Hanbury Wharf, less than a month after leaving The Cross Keys, Ombersley.

In a Facebook post, they said: “We have now taken over The Eagle & Sun on Hanbury Wharf in Droitwich.

“We are giving this lovely canalside pub some much needed care and attention to bring it up to the standard you are used to from us.

“We will keep you updated with our progress and hopefully and opening date very soon.”

Mr and Mrs Ball left the Keys on Sunday, April 26, having run the pub since November 2021,

Mr Ball had also been the landlord of the King’s Arms, also in Ombersley, for over a decade before that.

A new landlord has taken over the Cross Keys, with a reopening date set for Tuesday (May 12).
