THE nights are drawing in, supermarket shelves are starting to get a bit more festive and festive plans are already being made.
This means that Birmingham’s world-famous Frankfurt Christmas Market is just around the corner.
Thousands of people will descend into the city for German festive fun and shopping for 2026.
The countdown is on with the event less than 50 days from opening.
When does Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market take place in 2026?
The German market will return to the city centre on November 5, bringing festive cheer, traditional German food and hundreds of stalls to the heart of the city for seven weeks.
The market, which is the largest authentic German Christmas market outside Germany and Austria, will run until Christmas Eve on December 24.

Taking over Victoria Square and New Street, the market has become one of Birmingham’s most popular annual attractions, drawing millions of visitors from across the UK and beyond.
The event is a celebration of the long-standing partnership between Birmingham and its German twin city, Frankfurt, bringing a taste of continental Christmas traditions to the West Midlands.
What happens at Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market?
Visitors can expect dozens of traditional wooden chalets lined with festive decorations, offering everything from handcrafted gifts and jewellery to Christmas ornaments, toys and seasonal souvenirs.
The market is renowned for its authentic food and drink, with traders serving German bratwurst sausages, schnitzels, giant pretzels and roasted almonds.
Popular festive drinks, including glühwein and German wheat beer, will also be available.

The market will be open daily throughout its run.
Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market opening hours
Opening hours are 11am to 9pm from Monday to Thursday, 11am to 9.30pm on Fridays, 10am to 9.30pm on Saturdays and 10am to 9pm on Sundays.
On Remembrance Sunday, November 8, the market will open later, at 1pm.
