CROWDS gathered this morning to get a glimpse of the famous ‘Flying Scotsman’ steam locomotive as it roared through the Black Country and North Worcestershire.
The famous LNER Class A3 steam locomotive, which was built in 1923, passed through the region today (Saturday, September 19) as part of its journey from Stourbridge Junction to Bristol Temple Meads.
The locomotive ran empty from Tyseley via Snow Hill at 6.39am, passing through Rowley Regis at 6.52am, before arriving at Stourbridge Junction at 7.04am this morning, where it was greeted by an excited crowd.
The Flying Scotsman then departed from Stourbridge Junction at 7.13am and ran via Kidderminster at 7.21am.
Videos captured by residents who braved the morning chill to see the famous locomotive show the Flying Scotsman departing Stourbridge Junction before roaring through stations such as Hagley, Hartlebury, Kidderminster, and Blakedown.
One person on social media said it was a ‘lovely feeling’ to see the Flying Scotsman.
They said: “It was a lovely feeling; excitement was in the air. You could feel it coming up the track, hear it, smell it, see the steam rising.
“People sharing stories.
“Well worth being out before 6am because it was earlier than originally scheduled.”
