A pedigree puppy is on the long road to recovery after a serious injury nearly cost her her life – but she needs ongoing support to give her the best possible chance.
Marni, a 12-week-old Dalmatian, suffered what was reported to be an accident that left her with a serious injury to her right elbow at just 10 weeks old.
Despite having an excellent pedigree, she needed urgent veterinary care, including surgery to insert a transcondylar screw to stabilise the bone.
Originally a show dog prospect, faced with the cost and care requirements of her treatment, her owner requested that Marni be euthanised.

She was left at the veterinary practice in Cambridgeshire alone, without even a collar or lead.
However, Naomi Moss, 28, of Whittington, near Worcester was contacted by a breeder and she said she had space for her.
She has now joined a family including four other dalmatians and a miniature wire-haired dachshund. Miss Moss has now set up a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for Marni’s recovery. The page has already raised £775.
Those connected with Marni were contacted and stepped in before a final decision was made, ensuring she received the surgery. She is currently on strict crate rest for the next six weeks.
Her recovery journey is far from over, as she will require further X-rays, removal of the screw, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and other veterinary treatments.

Miss Moss said: “Once her six weeks of rest are complete, she will need follow-up X-rays to assess her recovery, removal of the transcondylar screw, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, and any additional veterinary treatment required during her recovery.”
The costs are significant and completely unexpected, leading to a fundraising effort to help cover her ongoing care.
Miss Moss added: “Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards Marni’s veterinary care, rehabilitation, and ongoing recovery.
“If you are unable to donate, sharing her story would mean so much to us.
“Thank you for helping give this special little girl a second chance.”
Marni was considered a promising show dog before her injury, which changed the course of her young life.
