THE sun was shining as classic cars were on display for a hugely popular car show near Worcester.
There were vehicles of all shapes, sizes and colours at Ombersley Car Show, with enthusiasts from around the Midlands having proudly brought their motors to the event.
Despite scorching heat, it was a busy day in the village as visitors flocked to Ombersley Memorial Hall to browse the array of vintage, classic and supercars.

‘Good selection of cars’

Andy and Lisa Causer, who travelled from Bridgnorth with their Cortina, said it was their first time attending the annual event but that they were definitely planning to return.
“We haven’t been to Ombersley Car Show before but we will come again because it’s lovely,” he said.
“It’s really nice, there’s a good selection of cars.”

Dave Hoare was attending from Kettering with his bright green 1976 Triumph Stag, as well as its Kermit the Frog mascot.
“I go to lots of car shows all over the place because they need to be used,” he said.
“It’s the first time I’ve been to this one. Apparently it was sold out.”
Another eye-catching vehicle was Phil Owen’s Fordson Thames ET6 van.
Originally used for the Civil Defence, the vehicle was later using as a polling station in South Wales.

Mr Owen, who lives in Dunhampton, then purchased the vehicle around 40 years ago and now takes it to shows around the country.
“We’re only from up the road in Dunhampton but we do travel around as far as Dorset,” he said. We’ve had a lot of fun in it. The names on the cab are all the old dogs we had.
“This is a very good event.”

Alan Thompson from Stourbridge brought his 1986 Lotus Espirit to the event and just an hour in, he said it had already been busy
“I take it round to loads of car shows,” he said.
“It’s lovely. The weather helps. There’s a good variation of cars here. It’s inclusive and nobody’s judging anybody for having the wrong sort of car.”
