Commuters have been warned of significant impact to train services across Worcestershire as a strike is set to cancel rail services.
West Midlands Railway has announced a severely restricted timetables on Friday (July 10) and Saturday (July 11) as members of the Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) take ‘last resort’ industrial action.
Duty train crew managers and control grades working for WMR will not book on for duty from 12pm on Friday until 12pm on Saturday.
As a result, major changes have been made to the company’s timetable, with no services running between Birmingham New Street and Worcester Foregate Street.
This will also affect journeys from Birmingham to Droitwich, Malvern, Ledbury, and Hereford.

Additionally, trains from New Street to Redditch and Bromsgrove will stop running at 4.53pm and 5.23pm respectively, and all services from Birmingham Snow Hill to Worcester Foregate Street are cancelled on both days.
Why are West Midlands Railway staff striking?
TSSA has said West Midlands Trains, the operator of West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway, and the Department of Transport have repeatedly failed to fulfil an assurance of improving rest working day agreements.
It is the second strike of its kind taken by the union in 2026, following similar action in May.
Maryam Eslamdoust, general secretary of the TSSA, said: “As thing stand we face an intolerable situation. Our reps at West Midlands Trains have consulted the membership and they remain determined to proceed with their legitimate action.
“The last round of industrial action caused a significant impact to services and the same will happen this time around.
“Of course, as ever our union only takes strike action as a last resort, so we hope that our demands can be met in coming days to avoid any more disruption.”
