Top griller from Worcester Nando’s makes it to chain’s UK and Ireland finals

A NANDO’S team member from Worcester has earned a place in the UK and Ireland final of a global competition.

Paige Fennell, a griller at the Friar Street branch, is among the last competitors standing in the chain’s Grillers’ Challenge, an international contest that honours the skill and passion behind its famous PERi-PERi chicken.

The contest involves technical rounds that test each participant’s knowledge, passion, and grilling expertise.

Garry Duncan, operations director at Nando’s UK and Ireland, said: “Huge congratulations to Paige as well as the other finalists.

“Making it this far is an incredible achievement, and a real reflection of the dedication, skill and passion our Grillers bring to their restaurant every day.”

The UK and Ireland round of the competition began with more than 500 restaurant heats, followed by 54 quarter-finals and seven semi-finals, and will culminate in the final.

Mr Duncan said: “Grillers’ Challenge goes far beyond competition.

“It shines a spotlight on what makes Nando’s special: our people, our flavour, and our Southern African heritage.

“It’s also a chance to recognise and celebrate the incredible talent across our restaurants, inspiring individuals to push themselves further and grow on a global stage.”

The UK and Ireland final will be held on July 7 at Nando’s Leeds Trinity restaurant.

The winner and runners-up will go on to represent their region at the international final in Perth, Australia, in October.
