An under-11 girls’ cricket team has been crowned champions for the third consecutive year.
The King’s Hawford girls’ team won the IAPS cricket tournament after producing a series of impressive performances in Bath on Tuesday (June 9).
The team competed against several schools throughout the day, including Richard Pate School, Bablake School before securing victory against Cheam School in the final.
Charlotte Butt, head of girls’ games at King’s Hawford, said: “To win the under-11 IAPS Cricket Tournament three years in a row is a tremendous achievement and reflects the continued growth, enthusiasm and quality of girls’ cricket at King’s Hawford.”
This latest success is the result of the cricket programme across The King’s Worcester Foundation.
It has been recognised as one of the UK’s Top 100 cricketing schools by the Cricketer Schools Guide.
In May this year, the school announced an official sporting partnership with Worcestershire County Cricket Club.
Jonny Mason, foundation director of sport at King’s Worcester, said: “King’s has a strong cricketing tradition, from producing England internationals to leading the way in both boys’ and girls’ cricket.
“Our commitment to nurturing talent starts with our youngest children, with many prep pupils going on to play in our 1st XI as well as following regional and national pathways.
“This is an incredible result for the King’s Hawford girls’ team, one which clearly has a very exciting cricket future ahead of them.”
