Pub boss optimistic for the future after reopening in St John’s

A PUB boss is optimistic for the future after taking over and reopening a pub in St John’s.

The Brewers Arms in St John’s reopened yesterday (April 24) after being taken over by new manager, Peter Lewis.

Despite only being closed for a few days, Mr Lewis plans to help the pub reach its full potential by introducing events, adding TVs, a pool table, and more.

Peter Lewis, who has taken over the Brewers Arms in St John’s, said: “We have officially reopened today (April 24).

“It’s not been operational for a while I think. It’s been open, but it’s been closed for two or three days I think.

“The last manager wasn’t turning up.

“I’ve taken it over because I don’t like pubs being empty, especially when it’s got good potential for the community.

“Our opening was a little delayed, but we opened at about 4.27pm and so far we’ve had 12 customers in the first 90 minutes.

“I’m just here. I’m providing a service.

“I’m from Birmingham, but I love Worcester, and I took over this pub specifically because I didn’t want to be in the town centre.

“I’m very optimistic about the future. We’ve got lots going on, we’ve got TVs going up, a pool table coming in and so on.”

Mr Lewis also revealed that he will begin refurbishing the venue and hosting community events like bingo, quiz nights, live music, and dart competitions.

He is also in talks with the University of Worcester over students designing a mural for the beer garden.

Lexi James said: “We are here because it’s the end of a hard day’s work.

“We came here when it was owned by the previous owner, we’ve come to see if it’s any different, and it’s nice.”
