TWO of the closest beaches to landlocked Worcestershire residents can go to enjoy a day out have been rated some of the worst in the UK.
Thousands of families planning a day trip to the coast may be disappointed to find out that Worcestershire’s nearest beaches were ranked among the worst by Which?.
Out of 135 UK seaside towns and villages, Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea were rated in the bottom ten on the list.

More than 5, 300 visitors rated the UK’s seaside destinations by scoring them on beaches, seafront, accommodation, peace and quiet, scenery and value for money.
Weston-super-Mare, which is the closest beach to Worcester, being 66 miles away, was given a 50% destination score, making it rank 127th out of 135 places.
It was given one star out of five on shopping and peace and quiet, and two stars for scenery, food and drink, seafront and beach.

Burnham-on-Sea, 74 miles away from Worcester, was rated even lower, scoring 48% for the destination and ranking 126th out of 135 destinations.
It was handed a one-star rating for its seafront, food and drink and tourist attractions, but did get two stars for its beach and value for money.
What is there to love about Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea?
Despite their negative rating, there are still lots to love about the beaches.
Both Somerset resorts continue to attract large numbers of visitors each year, particularly during warm weather and school holidays.

The beaches are just a short trip down the motorway for Worcester residents and hold various events throughout the year to get excited about.
Weston-super-Mare is famous for its yearly carnival, where hundreds of bright lights and enthusiastic performers turn the town into a colourful showground.
There are also donkey rides, a pier with attractions, and it has a sandy beach.
Burnham-on-Sea also has sandy beach walks for every ability.
