A FIRST of its kind card is set to help rail passengers passing through Worcestershire who require a priority seat.
CrossCountry has launched a digital Priority Seating Card to improve accessibility across its services.
The rail company, which provides services to Worcestershire Parkway from Birmingham, Cardiff, and Plymouth, will give passengers on their trains the ability to discreetly communicate their need to have a priority seat from their own phone.
Sam Mather, accessibility manager at CrossCountry, said: “Not all disabilities or health conditions are visible, and asking for a seat can sometimes feel difficult or uncomfortable.
“Our new digital Priority Seating Card offers customers a simple and discreet way to indicate they may need additional consideration when travelling.
“The card is not intended to assess or define an individual’s needs, but we hope it will empower passengers to communicate those needs more confidently, while encouraging courtesy and understanding from others.”

The free card can be downloaded to devices using Apple Wallet or Android Wallet, and physical priority seating cards will still remain available for customers who prefer them.
