Worcestershire clubs rewarded with potential EFL opposition in FA Cup first round

Worcester City could face a 400-mile round trip to face league opposition in the next round of the FA Cup.

City or Chorley were drawn away to League Two side Colchester United in the First Round of the 2026/27 FA Cup, with the two non-league teams facing each other at Sixways Stadium tonight in their fourth qualifying round replay.

Colchester United currently sit 20th in the fourth tier of English football, having only picked up two wins from their first 10 games.

The Essex side offer an unlikely giant-killing opportunity, with the U’s winning just one of their last 10 FA Cup first-round ties, including defeats to non-league outfits Oxford City and Marine.

Elsewhere in Worcestershire, Kidderminster Harriers will host League One Doncaster Rovers at Aggborough.

Donny have also experienced a difficult start to the season, with two wins in the first nine games leaving them 17th in the third tier.

Rovers have experienced much more success in the FA Cup in recent years, falling at the first hurdle just once in the last nine seasons.

Going into the draw, Argyle are the fourth-highest ranked side in the draw, having picked up six wins in their opening 11 games of the League One season.

The Greens have a very recent history of their own giant-killings, after they beat Premier League leaders Liverpool 1-0 while languishing bottom of the Championship in the 24/25 season.

The three ties will be played on the weekend of Saturday, November 7.
