During a plea hearing at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday (May 13), the murder charges against David Jones and Thomas Bowen, both aged 34 and of no fixed abode, were linked.

The two men were not called before the court for the hearing but the alleged murder was formally linked to additional charges against Jones, which include arson being reckless as to whether life is endangered, assault with intent to rob and two counts of assault on an emergency worker.

The arson allegation relates to a fire at Unity House Community Hub on Hill Street, which took place on the same morning that Mr Skyvington’s body was discovered.

No pleas have yet been entered and the plea hearing was adjourned until June 27.

A trial date has been fixed for November 16.

Both men have been remanded into custody.
