A SHOPLIFTER who breached a suspended sentence has been given another suspended sentence.

Eduardo Gouveia, 33, stole more than £400 worth of children’s clothing from H&M as well as a Spiderman helmet and a pair of wireless headphones from Menkind.

He appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court this week, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of shop theft.

Why did he get another suspended sentence?

The court said that a custodial sentence was necessary because of the defendant’s “flagrant disregard for court orders” and the fact that he was already subject to a suspended sentence.

Under the Sentencing Act 2026, there is now a presumption that offenders given less than 12 months in prison should have their sentence suspended.

Gouveia was also ordered to do 35 days of rehabilitation activity and to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
