TRAVELLERS have pitched up at a playing field in Diglis.
More than 10 caravans, as well as various other vehicles, arrived on Diglis Playing Fields on Tuesday (July 7).
Councillor Adam Scott, who represents the Cathedral ward on Worcester City Council, said police and council officers had visited the site to carry out checks.
He said the group had told them that they were planning to stay there for up to five days.

Police and council aware
In a statement shared by Friends of Diglis Fields, Cllr Scott said: “The council and police are well aware, and have visited the site to check out the approximately 13 caravans.
“Civil Enforcement teams are arranging for police support in carrying out appropriate checks.
“Then we will carry out an Equality Impact Assessment and review options for enforcement to regain possession of the council-owned site, based on what we discover. The group have advised us they plan to stay four to five days.
“In the meantime residents and park users should act with discretion. Keep me informed of any problems, or better still, go direct to the police on 101.”
When Worcester News attended the site, the atmosphere seemed peaceful in the quiet residential area.

Bollards on the footpath into the park appeared to have been broken down but it is not confirmed if this was related to the Traveller group.

It’s not the first time that Travellers have camped on Diglis Playing Fields, having stayed there in the summers of 2023 and 2025.
On both occasions, the groups were handed an enforcement notice to leave the site.
