A WORCESTER rugby match could soon make sporting history.
Walking rugby teams from across Worcestershire will gather at Worcester RFC on Thursday, August 27, for an unofficial world record attempt at the longest-ever game of walking rugby.
The event is part of ‘The Big One’, organised by the Worcester Warriors Foundation – the charitable arm of Worcester Warriors – as a month-long fundraiser for its employees and supporters.

Carol Hart, CEO of the foundation, said: “It’s an opportunity for us to reinforce what we do, and who we do it for!
“All the challenges are sport based and we use sport every day to improve the lives of people struggling with mental and physical disabilities.
“Through sport, we tackle loneliness, isolation, poor health, and support those living with Dementia and learning difficulties. Sport is the answer!”
The group are targeting five continuous hours of rugby, starting at 3.30pm.

Mr Hart said: “I’ve been badgering Matt (Cowdrey – coaching and delivery lead) for months with this idea and he’s finally agreed that is a great idea!
“Players from across the county seem keen to be a part of it so we are super excited to get it off the ground!”
Teams from Worcester RFC, Droitwich RFC, and Bromsgrove Walking Rugby will take part.
Members of the public are also invited to join the attempt by pledging a minimum of £25 to the foundation.

They can take part in a single game or play for the full duration.
Mr Cowdrey added: “Anyone’s welcome to join us. People drop me an email to take part, whether that’s just playing one game or they want to stay for the whole thing.”
The attempt will begin at 3.30pm on Thursday, August 27, at Worcester RFC.
