Young knights are being invited to step back in time for hands-on medieval adventures this summer.
The Commandery in Worcester is hosting a programme of interactive, medieval-themed fun for children and families, inspired by its rich history and atmospheric setting, which features a medieval Great Hall and original wall paintings.
At the heart of the activities is the Knight’s Quest family trail, where children can hunt for knightly symbols throughout the building and take on bite-sized challenges in each room.
Creative visitors can purchase Medieval Summer activity bags from the gift shop, which include materials to craft a crown and sceptre, build a miniature castle, or assemble a 3D knight and horse.
A dedicated craft room is available for families to assemble their creations on-site.
The trail and activity bags are available until Sunday, August 30, with the exception of Mondays when The Commandery is closed, except on bank holidays.
The highlight of the season will be Medieval Mayhem on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, when re-enactment group The House of the Twin Tailed Lion will be at The Commandery.
Children can take part in Knight School and design their own medieval shield to take home.
Helen Manning, events and activities co-ordinator at The Commandery, said: “We can’t wait to welcome The House of the Twin Tailed Lion back to The Commandery – they always put on an exciting show.
“We’re excited for families to have fun inspired by the fascinating history here in Worcester.”
Families can also enjoy free play guides that encourage children to explore The Commandery using their senses and imagination through drawing, colouring, and hands-on prompts.
Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics or relax at Little Al’s Kitchen, the on-site café, which offers homemade food and refreshments beside the canal.
General admission applies to all visitors, with an additional charge of £3.50 for family activities.
Day tickets can be booked online, and those wanting to return throughout the year can purchase a season ticket or Worcester residents’ pass, available in the gift shop.
