A missing person was found safe after a joint emergency services search across the Malvern Hills as a surveillance aircraft circled overhead using thermal imaging.
Fire crews from Worcester, Ledbury and Hereford assisted West Mercia Police in the search operation in the Malvern Hills.
The Vulcanair P.68R Victor, a surveillance aircraft, was spotted on Flight Radar making multiple loops of the Malvern Hills last night at around 8pm.
A spokesperson for Hereford Fire Station said: “Working together with crews from Worcester Fire Station, Ledbury Fire Station (drone unit), Hereford and Worcester Fire And Rescue Service Search and Rescue Dog and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) crews searched areas of interest.
The aircraft’s thermal imaging camera located a heat source and directed police units and fire crews, thankfully one person was located safely.”

A drone unit, search and rescue dog, and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) were involved.
Thermal imaging from the NPAS aircraft identified a heat source, guiding teams to the missing individual.
