Clumsy thief steps in dog poo before brazenly walking off with £3,000 motorbike

A CLUMSY thief stepped in dog poo before brazenly walking off with an autistic teenager’s £3,000 motorbike.

CCTV footage shows a man in a tracksuit hiding out in the garden of Pippin Walk in Drakes Broughton and later casually walking off with a 16-year-old’s orange bike.

Rebecca Perkins said the thief standing in dog muck was the only silver lining as the bike was one of the few things her son, Jake, had to focus on.

It also sparked his love for two-wheeled vehicles.

Jake had listed the bike on Facebook Marketplace in the hope that selling it would allow him to buy the perfect bike for when he passes his CBT at 17.

But that very same night, a thief was caught on CCTV stealing the vehicle.

Miss Perkins said: “He wanted to sell the bike and get his CBT, so he put it on Facebook, and the bike was robbed the next day.

“It is all a coincidence.

“He was hiding in our garden and stood in dog poo – it is the only silver lining.”

Around 10 different neighbours’ cameras caught the thief in the neighbourhood and followed his journey before, during, and after the theft.

In one, Miss Perkins said he can be seen smiling at the camera.

CCTV shows the thief prowling up to the property on Pippin Walk and entering the back garden.

He can then be seen hiding out in the garden before struggling to push the bike through the garden fence door.

Neighbours’ Ring Doorbell footage then captures him casually walking away from the scene while pushing the bike.

The thief was first picked up prowling the street at 2.10am and then finally left with the bike at 4.20am.

The family have informed the police of the incident and is thankful that the vehicle was insured.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “We received a call around 8am on Saturday morning (May 16) with the report of a motorbike being stolen from a property on Pippin Walk, Drakes Broughton.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
