Farm shop that has ‘best breakfast in Worcestershire’ officially opens new café

A FARM shop and kitchen that is known for having the ‘best breakfast’ in Worcestershire and creating the ‘famous Stourport cheesecake’ has officially opened its new café.

Stourport Farm Shop & Kitchen, which is now known as Canalside Café, officially opened at 2-2a High Street on Saturday (August 29).

The popular shop has opened its rebranded café in the unit previously occupied by Caldicott’s Antique Shop, which closed its premises earlier this year to focus on the success of its sister business.

The café is run by Kerry Loveridge alongside Douglas ‘Dougie’ Loveridge, with the former expressing his excitement at the business’s newest chapter on opening day.

Speaking to the Kidderminster Shuttle, he said: “It’s been a fantastic first day. We had people queuing outside at ten to eight this morning.

“The rain has stopped play a little bit, but it has been nice to see so many of our regular customers who have come to support us.

“We’ve missed them, and they’ve missed us.

“It’s been lovely to hear the comments from our customers, and we thank them so much for supporting us.

“It is still a work in progress, but we are committed to improving.”

New independent bar focused on ‘great drinks and relaxed atmosphere’ to open

Speaking to the Kidderminster Shuttle ahead of the rebranded cafe’s official opening, Dougie said that locals can expect the same quality that earned the popular farm shop its local and county-wide reputation.

He said: “My family, friends, and I spend more time in this business than we do at home, so we are there basically for breakfast, lunch, and sometimes tea, so everything has to be spot on for our customers and us.

“We serve the best quality sausages, fabulous bacon, a choice of fresh mushrooms, tinned tomatoes or fresh tomatoes, proper thick-sliced tiger bread for toast, and we have our own recipe for our ‘Stourport cheesecake’.

“We have people come from miles around, from Solihull and Telford for example, for our cheesecake and we are known for having the best breakfast in Worcestershire, as it is all quality.”
