Developer to build 30 affordable homes on site after buying land in village

A HOUSING developer is on the verge of building a 100 per cent affordable housing development in Drakes Broughton.

Owl Group has acquired land off Stonebow Road and plans to build 30 affordable homes on the site.

The land in question already has planning consent, with the homes set to range from one-bedroom to four-bedroom.

Owl Group has not disclosed how much the developer paid to acquire the site.

Paul Breen, Owl Group’s managing director for the West Midlands, said: “This acquisition represents another important milestone in Owl Group’s growth across the West Midlands.

“Stonebow Road will be our fourth active site in the region with a further 17 in the pipeline.

“Drakes Broughton has a fantastic community spirit with local shops, schools, pubs, sports teams and more.

“It’s certainly somewhere people are proud to call home.

“As we continue to expand across the region, we’re focused on bringing forward developments that have a lasting impact.

“We’re confident Drakes Broughton can continue to grow with these high-quality homes that will enable people to put down roots and remain part of the village community.”

The development will include the retention of green corridors along the northern and western boundaries, along with extensive new trees and planting.

Mr Breen added: “This site has been well-planned with plenty of space for everyday life. It will create a welcoming and attractive new neighbourhood where residents can settle into their new homes while also feeling part of the village.

“We will shortly announce our housing association partner before beginning construction in Q3 2026.”
