Consultation now open on future development plans for village

Residents in Powick can have their say on proposed plans for future development in their parish.

The Powick Neighbourhood Plan, which looks ahead to 2041, outlines a vision and planning policies for the parish in areas including environment, housing, community facilities, and economic development.

Created by Powick Parish Council in collaboration with residents, the plan has now been formally submitted to Malvern Hills District Council.

The consultation is now live and will run for six weeks, ending on July 20, 2026.

Councillor Dean Clarke, assistant portfolio holder for planning and flooding at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “Well done to Powick Parish Council for producing this draft plan.

“It is an important document which will guide the way the parishes grow and develop in the future, so it is really important that the people of Powick share their views on the plan and its proposals.”

Neighbourhood Plans are a key element of the Government’s localism agenda, designed to give communities more influence over decisions about where new homes, shops, and offices should be built, as well as the design of developments.

Following the consultation, the draft plan will be examined by an independent examiner appointed by Malvern Hills District Council later this summer.

The consultation is available online at malvernhills.gov.uk/powick-neighbourhood-plan where  a response form can also be downloaded.

Paper copies of the draft plan are available for public viewing at Malvern Hills District Council’s offices at The Council House, Avenue Road, Malvern, WR14 3AF.

Copies can also be requested directly from the district council.
