A BAKER has become a viral social media sensation with millions of views on TikTok after turning her hobby into a ‘growing’ business.
Ria Chance, 23, is the owner and founder of TreatsbyChance, and found herself going viral after turning to social media, particularly TikTok, to share behind-the-scenes moments, real experiences and showcase her love for baking.
Her posts have attracted hundreds of thousands of views and likes, with one video in particular, a compilation of cakes she has made over the years to celebrate her younger brother’s birthday, garnering 7.4 million views and 1.2 million likes.

“Having a video reach over 7 million views was incredibly exciting, especially on a personal level,” said Ria, from Stourport.

“I initially posted it, and something I created mainly as a way to look back on my progress and how far I’ve come over the years, so seeing that particular video go viral made it even more special.
“Reading through people’s kind and supportive comments was honestly quite surreal.
“From a business perspective, the impact was significant. It led to a noticeable increase in followers and overall visibility. I had many new customers discovering my business — including people outside of my local area — which really highlighted the power of TikTok as a marketing tool.
“However, with that level of exposure, there’s a higher expectation to maintain consistency and quality, as well as managing a larger volume of enquiries.
“Overall, it was a hugely positive experience and played an important role in growing both my audience and my business.”
According to Ria, baking was something she enjoyed as a hobby in her spare time and wasn’t something she planned on doing long-term; however, after going to university, she realised that she wanted to take a risk and start a business based on her passion.
Her ‘bespoke’ cake business now specialises in custom celebration cakes, cupcakes and sweet treats for a variety of occasions.
As Ria’s business continues to go from strength to strength, she recently made the decision to open her very own cake shed, ‘The Cake Hut’, a self-service honesty-box which she is stocking with homemade and freshly baked goodies.

According to Ria, the response from local customers where she lives in Stourport has been ‘incredible’.
Ria, who has been working in association with Bionic’s insurance team, said: “My brand has grown in ways I never expected, both online and locally, and I feel really excited about what’s to come.
“Looking ahead, I’m really excited about the future of TreatsbyChance. My brand has grown in ways I never expected, both online and locally, and I feel really excited about what’s to come.”
