Housebuilder donates ex-showhome furniture to hospice

A housebuilder has donated ex-showhome furniture to St Richard’s Hospice to support fundraising efforts.

The items, previously used to dress Fitchett Homes’ Elgar Park showhome in Worcester, will be sold through the hospice’s retail shops to raise funds for its specialist care services.

The donation followed an enquiry from St Richard’s corporate fundraiser Amy Bah, who contacted Fitchett Homes, part of the Bloor Homes group, via its website about surplus furniture.

Amy Bah said: “Fundraising through the sale of donated goods plays an important role in helping the hospice generate the income we need to sustain and develop important services across our community, including in-patient care, care in homes across the county and bereavement support.

“The furniture donation from Fitchett Homes is a practical and meaningful example of local businesses and a community organisation like ours working together to make a difference.

“Thank you to Fitchett Homes and the team who has made this possible.

“If anyone has furniture they would like to donate, we’d love to hear from you so our team can arrange collection.”

Proceeds from the sale of the donated items will help to deliver the charity’s free care services for adults in Worcestershire with life-limiting conditions.

The hospice relies on public and business support to continue offering care at no cost to patients and families.

Kim Benson, sales director for Fitchett Homes’ South West region, said: “Being able to help St Richard’s Hospice through such a simple gesture is something we were very happy to do.

“We hope the sale of the furniture can support as many patients and family in the local area as possible.”
