A golf and leisure complex is set to generate nearly a quarter of its electricity onsite.
Gaudet Luce in Droitwich will achieve this through a new sustainability project in partnership with business transformation specialist Commercial, which includes rooftop solar panels, electric vehicle (EV) charging points and voltage optimisation.
Jenny Fernihough, director at Gaudet Luce, said: “This is an important and pragmatic development for us.
“By reducing energy use and costs, we’re improving the sustainability and long-term resilience of our complex.”
The 72-panel solar array is expected to generate 33,900 kWh of renewable electricity each year, meeting 22.8 per cent of the site’s total energy needs and cutting carbon emissions by eight tonnes annually.
The system is projected to save more than £7,000 in its first year and over £315,000 during its lifetime.
Voltage optimisation technology will further improve energy efficiency across the clubhouse, with a payback period of just over three years.
