Coffee shop owner posts CCTV after couple walk off without paying

A COFFEE shop owner has shared images of a couple who walked off without paying their bill for two big breakfasts.

The man and woman who had a dog in tow ordered food and drink totalling £31 at Coffee & More before failing to settle up.

Owner Seamus Keane has posted CCTV images of the pair on Facebook and invited them to return to the shop in Bakers Arcade, off the High Street, in Pershore, and pay what they owe.

They were “nowhere to be seen” after ordering a beer and an orange juice and two full house breakfasts, according to Mr Keane.

“She came inside first and they said it was a bit of warm, so they’d sit outside,” he said.

“One of my staff came in from clearing their table and found out that no one else had taken their money.

“My partner ran out to see if they could find them, but they were nowhere to be seen.

“Then I thought, ‘thirty-one quid is a lot of money for a small independent business’, so I wanted to give them the chance to return to pay the bill.

“They walked off a bit sheepishly, she had put on sunglasses and a hat by the time they left.

“But mistakes do happen when customers have been chatting, we’ve had a customer come back six months later and say they’d forgotten to pay for a coffee.

“I want to give them the benefit of the doubt.”

Mr Keane did not go to the police despite the financial loss on Monday afternoon.

“I put it on social media in the hope that they might see the images or people who know them might see it and say something.

“I haven’t put the images on Facebook to shame them, if it was a genuine mistake that’s fine and I will take the images down if they want to come and pay the bill.”
