New Malvern boutique brings Scandinavian fashion to town centre

A new fashion store offering Scandinavian-inspired style has opened in Malvern after its owner spotted a gap in the town’s retail scene.

Malvern Muse, a women’s fashion store, opened on Edith Walk on October 14 and has already attracted strong interest from shoppers.

Owner Steina Castledine said the response from customers and neighbouring businesses had been encouraging during the shop’s first two weeks of trading.

“It’s been a really good start,” she said. “We’ve had a lot of interest. It’s such a busy, lovely community and we offer something else.”

The store focuses on what she describes as “affordable luxury”, stocking a range of clothing designed to combine quality with accessible prices.

Clothing is also available in a wide range of styles and sizes.

Items currently in stock include jumpers, alongside jeans, trousers, coats and other seasonal fashion pieces.

The brands stocked at Malvern Muse were carefully selected following visits to suppliers at Harrogate Fashion Week, one of the UK’s leading trade events for the fashion industry.

Since opening, Mrs Castledine said she has been encouraged by the support received from fellow independent traders in the town.

She praised the welcoming business community, particularly the help of the Deja Vu Dress Agency at St Richard’s Hospice.

The shop’s location on Edith Walk has been another positive, with the owner believing it goes nicely alongside the neighbouring Aetheria Art Gallery.

She is particularly proud of the outdoor seating area, which she hopes will help make the store a destination for visitors as well as shoppers.

Looking ahead, she has plans to make further use of the building by transforming the upstairs storage space into a venue for community activities.

The room, which offers views towards the Malvern Hills, could in future host events, workshops and social groups, creating an additional community space in the town centre.

Steina hopes the combination of unique fashion, a welcoming atmosphere and future events will help establish Malvern Muse as a new fixture on Malvern’s independent shopping scene.
