A new ice cream and dessert parlour will open in Droitwich as part of an exciting new venture after its predecessor closed during the Covid pandemic.
Swirly Joe’s Desserts in Farmers Way, Westlands, Droitwich is due to open at the end of January, following a refurbishment of a previously empty shop to bring a cherished project back to life.
Satvinder Sohal, who owns the building, said he had invested a significant amount in the refurbishment work with the sign already on the frontage – and people with a sweet taste were even welcomed inside as part of a sneak peek at what the future holds.
The 59-year-old explained that there had always been demand for their desserts but the previous business in Worcester had been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the new shop represents a fresh opportunity for the family business after some big changes for the family-run business which also owns what is now the Select and Save and the fish and chip shop, Salt and Vinegar.

People from the community were shown inside the new shop on Wednesday where residents enjoyed candyfloss as part of a celebration of the 40th birthday of the shop next door, now a Select and Save, which has been run by the same family for the last four decades.
The business will sell a selection of desserts and drinks including sundaes, crepes, waffles, milkshakes, cookie dough and Frappé coffee.

Mr Sohal said the building which had been turned into the dessert parlour, previously a newsagents, had been empty for around 15 years and was “excited to see it open”.
Mr Sohal said: “The business in Worcester was doing well but, because of Covid, we had to shut it.”
The new parlour will seat around 40 people and offer deliveries with the day-to-day running of the business by Perry Reynolds. It will share a kitchen with fish and chip shop Salt and Vinegar, next door.
The original Swirly Joe’s permanently closed its original location on Silver Street in Worcester during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The former city centre unit was later taken over by the burger restaurant Beef and Bird, which subsequently split the space to introduce a different dessert parlour called Koko Desserts.
