A SECONDARY school in Worcestershire is celebrating a historic milestone after appointing its first female headteacher in its 94-year history.
Jenna Butler has become Pershore High School’s first-ever female headteacher after she took over the role from Phil Hanson.
The appointment comes after what the school described as a successful summer, with students celebrating strong GCSE and A-Level results.
“It is a tremendous privilege and honour to lead Pershore High School, a school with such a strong tradition of care, ambition and success,” said Mrs Butler.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to be working alongside a dedicated and talented team of staff whose commitment to our children is evident every day.
“Together, we will continue to build on the school’s many strengths while always keeping the wellbeing and ambition of our students at the heart of everything we do.”
Looking ahead, Mrs Butler said she was keen to work closely with families and the wider community.

“I look forward to working in partnership with parents, carers and the wider community to ensure that every child receives not only an excellent education but also the exceptional care, support and opportunities they need to thrive,” she said.
“This is a special place, and I look forward to helping every student think big, work hard and be kind as they fulfil their potential.”
The new appointment coincides with another significant change for the school as it becomes part of the newly formed Quest Learning Trust.

The trust has been created through the merger of The Villages’ Trust and Avonreach Academy Trust and aims to bring together expertise from across its schools while maintaining their individual identities.
School leaders say the new partnership will help strengthen opportunities for pupils, staff and local communities through greater collaboration and shared ambition.
Pershore High School says it remains focused on building on its reputation for academic success while continuing to provide support and opportunities for all students.
