A PLAY area has been cordoned off over fears that branches could fall.
A section of the playground at Priory Park in Malvern has been taped off after an inspection of a cedar tree found it to be in decline.
Malvern Hills District Council said the tree was showing “significant signs of drought stress”, meaning there is an increased risk of branches falling.
The authority said the section of the play area would remain closed while the tree is assessed.

“As a precaution, we have immediately cordoned off the area beneath the tree,” a council spokesperson said.
“This means that a section of the play area will be temporarily closed while specialist assessments are carried out and we determine the most appropriate course of action.
“We understand this will be disappointing for those who regularly use the play area, and we apologise for any inconvenience.

“However, the safety of everyone using the park is our priority, so we ask that you please respect the barriers and do not enter the restricted area.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to make the area safe.
“We will reopen the affected section of the play area as soon as it is safe to do so and will provide further updates when available.
