A YOUNG driver who was caught at one of the highest speeds a magistrate has ever seen has been disqualified.
Zain Mahmood, 21, appeared at Worcester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (June 17) to be sentenced for speeding.
The court heard that Mahmood, of Glenavon Road, Birmingham, had been caught by a mobile speed camera driving at 111mph on the A435 Hollywood Bypass, Worcestershire at around 3pm on December 3, 2025.
The bypass, which connects M42 junction 3 with Birmingham, is a dual carriageway with a speed limit of 70 miles per hour.
Mahmood told the court that he had passed his driving test less than two years earlier, which meant he could only receive six points on his driving licence before being banned.

The 21-year-old wrote a letter to the Magistrates’ appealing for them to give him an immediate disqualification, which would last around eight weeks, rather than six points on his licence, which would result in him receiving a six-month driving ban.

Sentencing, head Magistrate John Hill said: “We are going to disqualify you for 56 days.
“You could have ended up dead or the people around you could have ended up dead.”

Alongside the driving ban, the 21-year-old was fined £576, and ordered to pay a £230 victim surcharge and £130 in costs to the court.
Because he was a new driver, Mahmood was told his licence would likely be revoked by the DVLA as a result of his disqualification.
The Magistrate added: “If you were to drive again, it is a serious offence which could see you end up in prison.
“It’s a harsh lesson for you to learn today, but 111 mph is the highest speed I have dealt with for some time.”
