Where to get MMR vaccine as measles cases rise

AS measles cases rise in Worcestershire, residents have been urged to check their vaccination status.

The county’s Public Health department has reported a “concerning increase” in cases of the infection and said this is particularly prevalent in adults who are unvaccinated or unsure of their vaccination status.

To prevent the spread, people have been told they should check if they are vaccinated either via the NHS App or by submitting a request to their GP practice.

“Choosing to get vaccinated isn’t just about protecting yourself, it also helps protect your family, colleagues and those who are more vulnerable in our communities,” a Public Health spokesperson said.

There are two types of MMR vaccine, with one that contains gelatine. Those who would prefer not to have the one with gelatine in it should speak to the person administering the vaccine.

The NHS also offers two doses of the MMRV vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps rubella and chickenpox, at ages 12 months and 18 months.
