Woman left shaken after terrifying road rage incident in Worcester rush hour

A WOMAN was left shaken after a van driver allegedly verbally abused her and kicked her car as he tried to force his way through the Worcester rush hour traffic.

The victim was driving to work at 8.15am when the man cut her up at a roundabout before calling her a fat c*** and attacking her vehicle, according to her partner.

The van driver, who was in a liveried vehicle, had been trying to force his way through heavy traffic on the Malvern Road in Lower Wick on Friday.

West Mercia Police have confirmed that it is investigating a report of fear or provocation of violence.

The partner said: “She was going to work when a man in a white van cut her up in heavy traffic.

“He was in the wrong lane and put his van across her car but he couldn’t pull forward.

“He then got out of his vehicle and started kicking her tyre and repeatedly calling her a fat c***, he was banging on the side of the car to try and get her out the vehicle.

“We’ve got no idea why he did it.

“We all get frustrated with the heavy volume of traffic but it doesn’t warrant all of that aggression towards a woman just trying to make her way to work.”

The man told Worcester News that his partner was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“We think she was just an easy target,” he said.

“He wouldn’t have done it if it was me in the car.

“She was really shaken up and we wonder how many other people he’s done this to.

“It’s disgraceful.”

The couple, who are from St John’s and do not want to be named, have identified an image of the driver on his company website and approached the business.

“I phoned up the company and they said would start an internal investigation but there’s not much they can do without dashcam footage,” the partner said.

“We feel he will be allowed to get away with it with no repercussions, even though he did this in a van with their logo on.”

The couple is also waiting to hear back from the police.

“I phoned the police switchboard and when I finally got through to someone they said they would get back to us within seven days,” the man said.

“We don’t hold out much hope and we feel it will just go under the radar because no one was physically harmed.

“But we think it should be treated seriously because this man was really intimidating and next time we worry it could be even worse.”

The company concerned told the Worcester News that it has given the details of the driver to the police and will assist when and if it is appropriate.

A police spokesperson said: “An investigation is ongoing into a report of fear or provocation of violence towards a victim on Powick Island in Worcester on Friday, May 1.”
