Man ordered to pay more than £400 after dropping cigarette butt

A MAN has been ordered to pay more than £400 after he dropped a cigarette butt.

Robert Mitchell, of Rushwick, was handed a fine of £220 at Tameside Magistrates’ Court after being charged with throwing down, dropping or depositing litter.

The 41 year-old was also ordered to pay a victim services surcharge of £88 and a further £125 in costs.

It related to an incident when he had dropped a cigarette butt on Aytoun Street in Manchester city centre.

The case was brought by Manchester City Council Litter.
