The rock legends and motorsport icons who have owned and driven Morgans

WHEN it comes to representing Worcestershire, Morgan Motors is as iconic as Lea and Perrins Sauce and the Malvern Hills.

Founded over 100 years ago, Morgan has become iconic in its use of ash wood for the frames of its cars, including its flagship model, the SuperSport.

The sportscar brand has been popular with celebrities for decades, from legendary musicians to petrolheads and even royalty.

Here are some of the biggest names to drive a Morgan:

Richard Hammond

Top Gear and The Grand Tour star Richard Hammond lives just the other side of the Malvern Hills from Morgan’s headquarters.

The 56-year-old is such a big fan of Morgan, he hosted the unveiling of the SuperSport in March 2025.

Mick Jagger

Rolling Stones frontman Jagger has long been established as a car collector, with a deep passion for motoring.

But one of the earliest vehicles to find its way into his collection was a Morgan Plus 8.

It is not known whether Jagger still has the Plus 8 in his collection, alongside a £400,000+ Aston Martin DB6 Volante and a £250,000+ Ford Galaxie 500 XL.

In 2017, Morgan celebrated Jagger’s 74th birthday by sharing photos of the singer behind the wheel of his Plus 8 in the 1960s.

Sir Stirling Moss

When it comes to endorsements for a sportscar, they do not get better than a Formula 1 race winner.

Sir Stirling won 16 of his 66 races during 11 seasons in Formula 1, coming second in the driver’s championship four times and third three times.

In a tribute to the motorsport legend following his death in 2020, the Morgan Motor Company said Sir Stirling learnt to drive in a Morgan Three-Wheeler.

Ralph Lauren

Morgans were popular with people from far beyond Great Britain, including New York fashion designer Ralph Lauren.

According to The Express, Lauren was named among several stars to own a Morgan in the Morgan owners’ register.

King Juan Carlos I

Serving as King of Spain for almost four decades until his abdication in 2014, Juan Carlos I is another person who is listed in the Morgan owners’ register, according to The Express.
