A PLAYGROUND at a popular park in Malvern has reopened after a major refurbishment.
Following weeks of closure, and heat-related delays, the main play area at Victoria Park is now back in use.
The re-opening had been planned for the start of the summer holidays but was postponed after the record-breaking June heatwave meant surfacing couldn’t take place as planned.
Last week, Malvern Town Council estimated the main play area would be back open on July 29 but the reopening was eventually confirmed on Thursday afternoon (July 30).

Major refurb

The playground has undergone a significant refurbishment, with a wide variety of new equipment available.
This includes a large uniplay with a slide, an inclusive seesaw, a titan, a whizzer, a large trampoline, play panels and sensory tokens.
Some of the new wooden play equipment will not be available to use until next week, with the council saying the final touches are still being carried out.

Celebration event

To celebrate, an official reopening event will take place on Wednesday, August 5, with music, children’s activities and workshops.
The event will start at 2pm, with the official opening scheduled for 3pm.
“Malvern Town Council would like to thank you for your patience while the play area has been upgraded and extended,” a council spokesperson said.
“It is now ready for a summer of fun and for all to enjoy the facilities at Victoria Park.”

Bilberry Café, which is located in the park and has remained open throughout the refurbishments, is also celebrating.
“We are so happy that you can now enjoy the brand new park facilities,” the business said.
“Thank you to each and every one of you for all your kind support during the time it was closed. Now we can relax and enjoy the rest of the summer.”
