A SPIKE in counterfeit notes appearing in Worcestershire has prompted a warning from police.
The upsurge in the use of fake notes has been report to West Mercia Police in recent weeks.
A spokesperson said: “These have mainly been in £5 and £20 denominations, and have appeared not only in West Mercia Policing area, but nationally as well.
“Remember that, if you receive any counterfeit notes, you cannot be reimbursed so you will carry the loss on that transaction.”
Anyone who believes they have been given a fake note can report it by calling 101 or using the 101 online service.
