Worcester Bridge set for specialist repairs as motorists told to expect delays

Repair works have started on Worcester Bridge, causing a single lane closure with delays for motorists expected.

Damage was caused when a police car crashed into the bridge while responding to an emergency back in March.

As a Grade II listed structure, the repairs need specialist materials and conservation techniques to preserve its historic character.

The work, expected to take up to three weeks, includes fixing damaged stonework and replacing sections with closely matched stone.

Motorists are advised to anticipate delays, especially during peak hours, and consider alternative routes if possible, pedestrian access will remain available during the repairs.

Worcestershire County Council has expressed gratitude to residents, businesses, and road users for their patience and understanding while the work is carried out.

“These repairs are essential to maintain the bridge’s condition and ensure it remains safe and serviceable for years to come.”
