TWO missing five year-old chidlren were successfully reunited with their parents after wandering off in Malvern in separate incidents.
The children were located with help from West Mercia Police and West Mercia Search and Rescue after going missing at the Three Counties Show in Malvern last weekend (June 13).
In one case, the parents had taken a picture of the five-year-old girl prior to entering the show – something police have highly recommended.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “Two separate five-year-old children who were missing were located at the Three Counties Show last weekend.
“PC Dave Olczak and PC Wayne Waldron were patrolling the Three Counties Show last Saturday when they were approached by the family of a five-year-old girl who had gone missing.
“The parents had the foresight to take a photo of their daughter prior to entering the showground, something that we would highly recommend parents do whenever going out with their young children.
“PC Olczak stayed with one of the parents to take details, whilst PC Waldron liaised with the Three Counties staff and security.
“Further police resources were drafted into the showground, and we were lucky enough to have members of West Mercia Search and Rescue manning a stand who jumped into action.
“The Three Counties have a dedicated missing child team, who also assisted.
“The girl was found safe and well, and was reunited with her parents.
“A couple of hours later, the same two officers were approached by a dad of another missing five-year-old.
“The little boy was found swiftly, very close to where he had wandered off.
“He was happy as Larry looking at the tractors.”
